I have always been a maker. I like to experiment with ideas and conventions and have found clay to be an ideal material to work with. I’m inspired by nature (including human) and everyday life, looking sideways for new solutions to everyday routines, rituals and life. I like my pieces to be useful, flexible and open to interpretation, and to pass the smile test before I let them go. Each piece is unique, built by hand or thrown on the wheel, not trimmed, but sanded to give each piece individual character.

A background in visual communication and a fondness for graphic wit has a big influence on my creative process; I act on a whim, the spark of an idea, and through a combination of play and logic unexpected solutions arise. It gives me great joy to bring these ideas to life and to experience how people connect and interact with them.

Growing up in Norway has influenced my aesthetic. I like to work with simple forms and use sand from the New Zealand coastline to add subtle tone and texture to surfaces.

I am a qualified Art Director, hold a Master of Design and a Diploma of Ceramic Art. I live and work in Mount Victoria, Wellington, New Zealand, and I became a full time potter in 2017.
