TWO-SIDED VASE
This vase explores duality, but also includes an element of magic:
1) put e.g. a red flower on one side and a yellow on the other
2) show someone the red flower, ask them to close their eyes, carefully spin the vase 180˚ and voila; the flower has changed colour! The vase was selected for the Ceramicus 2019 exhibition at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.
The magic theme was explored further with a vase sliced in half, inspired by the magic trick of slicing a boxed woman in half. In this instance, the vase splits into two functional vases.
